How Heat Trace Works

• Heating element: A heating cable is installed along the roof edge, inside the gutters, and through the downspouts.
• Melting ice: The cable warms the surfaces, melting snow and ice as it accumulates.
• Preventing blockages: This melted water flows through the gutters and downspouts, preventing the ice dams and blockages that can cause water to back up and damage the roof or foundation.
• Automation: Many systems use sensors to detect temperature and moisture, automatically turning the heating cable on when freezing conditions occur and off when conditions are safe.
• Self-regulation: Our cables are self-regulating, meaning they automatically increase heat output as the temperature drops and decreases as it rises, saving energy and enhancing safety.
